Component 1: SCP Policy Assessment and Monitoring
The objective of the first component of the SCP Policy Project is two-fold: to assess the present SCP policies and institutional framework, and to propose improvements, as well as consolidate SCP indicator initiatives to a National SCP Monitoring System.
COMPONENT 2: Promoting Green Procurement Procedures
The objective of the second component of the SCP Policy Project is to promote Green Procurement among local authorities and, the private sector, and based on this, to propose measures to strengthen green procurement in Thailand. The implementing agency is the Pollution Control Department (PCD), within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The purpose of promoting green procurement is to reduce the environmental impact of producing and consuming products.
Promoting Green Industry Mark among Selected Industries
The objective of the third component of the SCP Policy Project is to promote the Green Industry Mark (GIM) among small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), by strengthen the implementation of GIM and other initiatives related to sustainable production in Thailand. The purpose of promoting GIM, initiated by Ministry of Industry (MOIn), is to encourage SMEs to perform their business in a more environmental friendly way. This would lead to reduced environmental impacts from the production sector. The implementing agency is the Department of Industrial Works (DIW), within MOIn.
Component 4: Promoting SCP Awareness at Local Level
The objective of the fourth component of the SCP Policy Project is to promote awareness of sustainable consumption and production (SCP) in municipalities. The concept of SCP, practical examples and other information will be communicated with the purpose of achieving behavioural changes in the local communities. The implementing agency is the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion (DEQP), within the Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment (MNRE).
